Jorge Aguiar

Son of a self-taught violinist, "José Soares Aguiar Júnior" passionate about Portuguese popular music and who passed his passion for music to me. The happy memories I have of my father are an open smile, bright eyes, a body always in motion playing the violin, and I imagine him remembering the good times of his youth, playing the violin at the balls.Jorge Aguiar

My first "contact" with music was at age 8 with guitar learning books offered by my father, who at age 10 gave me my first guitar as a Christmas present. My father brought the guitar on the 23rd and on the 24th, at night I play for him, "Silent Night" and "El Condor Pasa". We were in 1977.

At the time it was fashionable to play the guitar and in the summer there were a lot of groups of people playing and singing on the streets, and so wherever there was someone playing the guitar I spent hours watching how they played and when I got home I tried to do the same, so I consider self-taught. Of course, I asked how it was done to acquaintances and asked them to repeat until I learned.

When I was 11 to 14 years old, I participated as a musician in the "Children's Song Festival of Barrosa, Devesas and Telheira, although when I was 14 I also participated as a singer and won the festival in the 12 to 14 year olds category.

At the age of 15 I formed the "Duo Rock Visões" with a friend and excellent musician and singer "Jorge Cardoso" playing keys, we did three concerts and the band "Rock Visões" appeared, with some success at the time (we only played versions), which lasted about three years. At the same time we formed the band "Expresso" which disbanded after a few months but with about 15 concerts.

Until the age of 25 I played in some bands "The Friends", "MosaicoTropical" and others. Finally I formed the duo "Adágio", with a friend and it lasted about 20 years with hundreds of concerts in bars, events and weddings, ending in 2007.

Currently I only play at home and here I share some songs recorded by me in "My litle corner".
